Will you be getting any sunshine tomorrow?

If you had a particularly snowy or wet day today, you may be wondering whether you can expect better conditions tomorrow.

This graphic from the Met Office has a good overview of conditions throughout the day (keep an eye on the top right to see where might get patches of sunshine).

Snow-covered cars and roaming sheep

Here are some of the most striking images of the day as swathes of the UK are hit by snow.

Women dies in serious collision near Buxton

Derbyshire police have reported a woman has died following a serious collision on the A515 outside of Buxton in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called just after 6am to reports of a crash involving a car and a lorry at Brierlow Bar.

The driver of the car suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene and worsening weather conditions have meant that the road has remained closed.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances of the collision, police said.

Euston disruption partly caused by swan on the line

We've just reported on major disruption at London Euston station - and it now appears at least some of the chaos was caused by a swan on the line.

London Northwestern Railway said the swan was injured and in a location "which restricted access and caused congestion to services".

'Chaos' at Euston and passenger 'faints' during serious disruption

This doesn't appear to have been caused by the weather, but further incidents are adding to travel disruption across the country.

Trains will be disrupted until the end of the day at London Euston after emergency services had to deal with an incident between the station and Rugby.

Services to locations including Liverpool, Edinburgh and Birmingham have been affected, with passengers currently facing delays of up to 45 minutes.

One passenger said she had seen a person "pass out" in the overcrowding.

Mountain rescue team deployed

A volunteer from the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team has said they were deployed earlier during the snowy conditions in West Yorkshire.

Two teams were deployed to help the ambulance service with injured members of the public in difficult-to-reach places and the police with assisting stranded vehicles.

They are now on standby to assist further if needed.

One volunteer, James, sent us these photos taken by the team.

RAC warns of potential 'huge risks' of driving in snow and ice

The RAC has urged drivers to consider waiting until conditions have improved before making their journeys.

Breakdown spokesman Rod Dennis said: "The vast majority of drivers are heavily reliant on their cars, something that's exacerbated when the weather turns icy or snowy, especially if public transport is impacted and drivers have no choice but to use their cars for trips they consider essential."

However, he warned snow and ice can carry "huge risks" for drivers.

"Waiting until conditions improve might well be the safest and best course of action," he said.

"If a driver has made the decision that it is safe to set out in snow and ice, it's important drivers always check their cars and adjust their driving styles to cope with whatever wintry conditions are thrown at them."

Braking distances can increase by up to 10 times when there's snow and ice on a road, he said, so it's vital to check tyre treads and slow down considerably.

We've given you dogs in snow - now here's an alpaca

One reader, Jim, has sent us this photo of cheery looking alpaca Bingo staying cosy in a shed in Birchover, Derbyshire.

Van swept away in flooded ford

A reader has sent in this image of a courier van being swept away by a flooded ford in Highley, Shropshire.

They said a marker was in place to show the ford was too deep to cross, but the driver was not familiar with the area and the van became submerged.

The driver got out and was fine, managing to make it onto the bridge.

Lane closures affecting airport expected to continue until tomorrow afternoon

Lane closures southbound are in place at Mersey Gateway Bridge, affecting those hoping to get to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The closures are now expected to continue until Friday afternoon.

"We advise anyone coming to or from the airport to plan their journey accordingly," the airport said.
