As Storm Arwen clears to the south of England, improving pictures can be seen across the UK, the Met Office has said.
However, this afternoon is expected to remain "windy and feel particularly cold in the wind".
A Harry Potter event in Cheshire has been cancelled due to the extreme weather brought by Storm Arwen.
Tonight's Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience at Arley Hall and Gardens will not go ahead but organisers have said "hopefully" it will be back for tomorrow night's show.
The Met Office has warned that it will be a "very cold night", despite Storm Arwen clearing.
It urged people to "take care" and look after loved ones as icy stretches are likely to form this evening.
"Whilst Storm Arwen has now cleared the after-effects are still being felt widely across the northeast of the UK," the forecaster said.
Blackpool's Christmas By The Sea ice skating rink has been forced to close after "taking a battering" from Storm Arwen.
Visit Blackpool, the tourism arm of Blackpool Council, said the site is "getting some much-needed care and attention" and will reopen tomorrow afternoon.
Earlier today the Met Office revealed areas that had experienced the strongest winds due to Storm Arwen.
Topping the charts was Brizlee Wood, in Northumberland, which saw gusts of up to 98mph. This remains unchanged.

Storm Arwen鈥檚 winds have destroyed a "magical" Christmas attraction on a railway that is more than 290 years old.
The sold-out, 90-minute North Pole Express experience is popular with families who take the train from East Tanfield station in North Yorkshire to see Santa and receive a Christmas present.
A volunteer from Tanfield Railway, where trains run on a rail dating to 1725, said the damage is "really disappointing".
"There鈥檚 a lot of hard work put in (and) a lot of volunteer time put in," David Watchman said.
"We鈥檝e seen some extreme weather, we鈥檙e always prepared鈥� but the winds were on a different level last night, and there鈥檚 only so much you can tie down and prepare for.
"It鈥檚 been totally different to what we鈥檝e experienced before."
