Joe Biden might have won the presidency but vote counting is continuing in four states.
Mr Biden's campaign team is celebrating victory, while Donald Trump's team has made unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud.
Here is the state of play in the four states which have not yet been called:
Georgia
There will be a recount in the key swing state after it was announced there will be a margin of just a few thousand votes.
Having trailed Mr Trump by 300,000 votes on Wednesday, Mr Biden now has a lead of 7,500.
The recount could delay the result for weeks.
If Mr Biden carries Georgia, he would be the first Democratic nominee to do so since Bill Clinton in 1992, but It seems neither candidate will win the state's 16 electoral college votes anytime soon.
Arizona
Mr Biden and Mr Trump are almost neck-and-neck in the state, which carries 11 electoral college votes.
Mr Biden's lead has been getting smaller, with a formerly healthy margin of 60,000 votes now just over 20,000.
Arizona has traditionally voted Republican and was home to one of the party's best-known senators John McCain.
North Carolina
Mr Trump is currently ahead by 75,433 in the state, which has 15 electoral college votes.
The president is expected to win here.
Alaska
The state, which is not a critical battleground, has still not been called either way.
The latest tally has Mr Trump 51,382 votes ahead of his Democratic challenger.
The state, which is worth three electoral college votes, was won by Mr Trump in 2016.
