The England football team may have fallen short of giving the country the opportunity to throw the ultimate party, but Wales has wasted no time in celebrating Geraint Thomas' stunning victory in the Tour de France.
From Caerphilly Castle to Cardiff City Hall, the Team Sky rider's home country has pulled out all the stops to mark his triumph, with such monuments taking on an appropriately yellow hue to match his iconic winner's jersey.

Thomas, a proud Welshman, joined Sir Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome as British victors of the prestigious sporting event on Sunday, with the trio claiming six of the last seven Tour titles.
The 32-year-old rider described his success as "a dream come true".
He has been inundated with messages of congratulations, with plenty coming from Cardiff.
Thomas grew up in the Birchgrove district of the Welsh capital and throughout his early years worked hard to fulfil his ambition of becoming a professional cyclist.
At the Wales Millennium Centre, the bilingual inscription adorning its outer wall was illuminated yellow.
Written by poet Gwyneth Lewis, it reads "in these stones horizons sing" and, "creu gwir fel gwydr o ffwrnais awen", which translates to "creating truth like glass from the furnace of inspiration".
Thomas is used to having his home country provide monuments to his achievements, with a postbox in Cardiff painted gold in his honour to mark his medal-winning exploits at London 2012.
Now somebody has wrapped a yellow ribbon around it to say congratulations for winning the Tour.
There is also a campaign to turn other postboxes across the city yellow, launched by owners of The Bike Shed shop and repairs centre in Pontcanna.
One of the owners, John Higgins, told Wales Online: "We hope it will be taken up in Cardiff, and, maybe throughout Wales, to mark his historic win."
The various tributes have been noted by the Welsh government, which posted a video on Twitter to showcase them.
And in a later tweet, there appeared to be a cheeky dig at England fans for the phrase on everyone's lips during their exploits during the World Cup.
"Huge congratulations to @GeraintThomas86 on a stunning #TDF2018 victory," it said.
"A magnificent achievement - you have done yourself and your country very proud. #ItsComingHome."
