After meeting Barack Obama to start the handover of power at the White House, Donald Trump now has a small taste of what's to come after his inauguration in January.聽
One of his most important initial tasks is to decide who is to support him when he starts running the most powerful country in the world.
, but there are reports the President-elect has his sights on several contenders from outside of politics for many of the top cabinet positions.
It is also believed that many of the Republicans who supported the business mogul throughout his bitterly fought election campaign could be rewarded for their efforts.
Reported possible candidates to take over from John Kerry as Secretary of State include former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich; Bob Corker, chairman of the US Senate Committee on foreign relations; former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton, and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani.
For the Treasury Secretary role, Mr Trump has previously told the Politico website he wants to appoint his finance chairman and economic adviser Steven Mnuchin, a Goldman Sachs alumnus.
Sources also told US broadcaster CNBC that JP Morgan chief Jamie Dimon was considered for the job, but that he turned it down.
New Jersey governor Chris Christie is one of the names tipped for Attorney General.
Others, including Mr Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr, and venture capitalist Robert Grady, have been mooted for Interior Secretary. Politico has also reported that Sarah Palin could be in line for the role.
And Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions is tipped for Defence Secretary.
Critics have been quick to point out that most of the names being touted are white, middle-aged men.
