UK has warmest start to May on record as temperatures soared to over 29C
The Met Office said 29.3C (84.7F) had been recorded at Kew Gardens in southwest London, passing the previous 1 May record of 27.4C (81.3F) set in Lossiemouth in Scotland, in 1990. Sky's science correspondent Thomas Moore explains why.
