Here is what we currently know:
- Hollywood legend Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa have been found dead at their home;
- The couple had been dead for some time and were found in different rooms when officers found them, according to a search warrant from police in Santa Fe;
- The deaths are "suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation," according to a police search warrant;
- Spokesperson Denise Avila said deputies responded to a request to do a welfare check at around 1.45pm local time to find the couple and their dog dead at the scene;
- Hackman's family have paid tribute to him;
- Earlier, his daughter Elizabeth Jean Hackman told TMZ the couple may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning;
- The authorities said foul play isn't suspected, but they haven't disclosed how the couple died.
