At least 12 Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza, medics say

In Gaza, which Israel has bombarded since the October 7 attacks in 2023, 12 Palestinians have been killed today.

That's according to medics al Awda Hospital in the Hamas-run territory, who said three were killed and dozens wounded in Israeli fire as they approached a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid site.

Two others were killed en route to another aid site in Rafah, in the south, they said.

An airstrike killed seven in Beit Lahiya, in the north, they added.

Israel has not commented.

The GHF began sharing food packages in Gaza at the end of May, after Israel partially lifted a near three-month total blockade.

Palestinians have been killed in near-daily mass shootings while trying to reach the food.

The UN has rejected the new distribution system as inadequate, dangerous and a violation of humanitarian impartiality principles.

Iran far outweighs Israel in terms of military personnel, but does that matter in this conflict?

Iran says strikes on Israel are self-defence - and blames US

Iran's foreign minister has been speaking in the past few minutes

Abbas Araghchi said Tehran's response to Israel's attacks are based on self-defence.

Israel's strikes, which came first, would not have happened without the greenlight from the US, he added.

Washington, he said, should condemn Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, adding talks with the US could have led to an agreement.

But Israel wanted to sabotage those negotiations, he said, which the US wanted to curb Iran's nuclear programme.

He also said Iran doesn't want to expand the war, unless forced to do so.

Israel warns Iranian civilians near weapon facilities to evacuate

Israel's military spokesman has issued an evacuation warning to all Iranian residents near weapon facilities.

Avichay Adraee posted an "urgent warning to all Iranian citizens" on social media.

"All individuals currently or in the near future present in or around military weapons production facilities and their support institutions are to leave these areas immediately and not return until further notice," he wrote.

Germany offers Iran nuclear talks along with UK and France

Germany's foreign minister has said they are ready to hold immediate nuclear talks with Iran, along with France and the UK.

The US hopes to curb Iran's nuclear programme, but a new round of talks were called off today, following Israel's attacks on Iran.

Johann Wadephul, who is on a visit to the Middle East, said he wants to de-escalate the conflict.

"Germany, together with France and Britain are ready," he told German broadcaster ARD.

"We're offering Iran immediate negotiations about the nuclear programme, I hope [the offer] is accepted,"

He said this is a "key prerequisite" for solving the conflict, to ensure Iran "presents no danger to the region, for the state of Israel or to Europe".

Number killed in Iranian strikes rises to 10

The number of people reported killed after Iranian attacks in Israel has risen to 10.

Dozens more have been injured, with Israeli media reporting more than 200 people have been hurt.

Israeli Air Force says it downs more drones heading to Israel

More drones have been reported near Israeli airspace.

The Air Force said it has downed seven in the past hour, with help from the Navy.

All were heading to Israeli territory, it said.

Iran launched two waves of missile attacks overnight - fewer than the previous night, but appearing to cause significantly more damage.

Israeli media reports at least eight people have been killed, though the Times of Israel said that figure stands at 10.

Houthis announce joint attack on Israel for first time

For the first time, Yemen's Houthis publicly announced they targeted Israel in coordination with Iran.

Spokesperson Yehya Sareagroup said the group targeted central Israel's Jaffa with several ballistic missiles in the past 24 hours.

"Triumphing for the oppressed Palestinian and Iranian peoples... this operation was coordinated with the operations carried out by the Iranian army against the criminal Israeli enemy," he added.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported last night the military attempted to assassinate a senior Houthi leader.

For context: The Houthis are part of an Iran-aligned regional alliance, which also includes Hamas and Lebanon's Hezbollah.

The group governs swathes of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, more than a thousand miles from Israel.

It has blamed Israel for instability in the Middle East, saying the "circle of conflict" in the region was driven by its "continued crimes".

The group seized Sanaa and much of the country's north in 2014.

In January 2015, they surrounded the residence of former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, forcing him to flee.
